Home Party is the official name of the party in English, but its name in Chinese is Hongdang - litterally, "Red Party", after the colour of the shirts and hats worn by the participants of the 2006 campaign against the then President Chen Shui-bian [1, 2], some of whom had founded this party in 2007 [1]. The party flag is red with a large white disk (see attached image tw}homeparty.gif). At the party website home page [3], the flag symbolism is explained like this: red colour, which symbolizes life and joy in Chinese tradition, stands for the enthusiasm for reforms and white disk symbolizes the sun, its colour also standing for peace and honesty; the whole design is called "The Sun at High Noon". It is also used as the party logo, often with the addition of the party name inscribed in Chinese characters [4], or makes part of other flag designs, like those used during the campaign for the legislative elections which took place on 2008-01-12 [5, 6] - along with the party flag, another important element of their design was the party number on the list.
There is also an interesting blog in Chinese with examples of comparings of different flag designs - that of the Home Party is compared with the national flag of Japan. It is yet to be verified if this similarity is more than just a coincidence, but the Home Party flag does seem to have the same ratio which the flag of Japan had until 1999.
